About Me

Firstly, a very warm welcome to my website. I hope visiting here will be the first step towards you being able to achieve your goals.

It can be a daunting experience trying to find a coach – someone with whom you can connect and build a trusting relationship. This, more than anything else, is my primary objective when I begin a coaching relationship. I aim to create coaching sessions that allow people to be their authentic self and I start wherever they are on their journey.


I began my career as an Early Years Practitioner supporting young children and their families, providing high quality services in the public and voluntary sectors. I have extensive experience of leading teams, creating a culture of reflective practice, and achieving the best outcomes. More recently, I have worked in Children Services with a wide range of stakeholders and partners to deliver services that support people to be their best selves.

Janice Marshall

Having found informally coaching and mentoring very rewarding for several years, I then qualified as a Level 5 Coach and Mentor at the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) in 2018. In 2020 I set up my own coaching business and became a European Mentoring and Coaching Council accredited practitioner in 2021.


In a continuing effort to develop my knowledge and skills I have gained a range of qualifications including a Master of Arts degree in Early Years Education, a Postgraduate Certificate in Early Years Leadership and the ILM’s Introduction to Solution Focused Coaching Skills.


Coaching assistant directors, heads of services and senior leaders in the public sector has enabled me to offer a safe space for these clients to reflect upon the quality of the services being offered, the workforce, equality, diversity and inclusion and outcomes. I have also coached aspirant leaders, business owners and individuals seeking to make sustainable changes in their lives.


I have a keen interest in leadership and management, how best to develop teams, create a vision and achieve service and organisational objectives. In 2007 this culminated in me being asked to co-write a leadership and management chapter for the book, The Team Around the Child: Multi-agency Working in the Early Years, which is used as a resource in academia.

Coaching

The coaching sessions are bespoke and are led by the needs of each client. I work collaboratively to empower the coachee to identify the goals they want to achieve through a combination of solution focused conversations, open-ended questions, attentive listening, and goal setting. I take the time to understand and explore the context of the individual, the organisation, or the situation to ensure the interventions are appropriate and support the coachee to reflect, grow and identify the next steps.

Who I Work With

As a highly experienced empathetic professional, I work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and with varying abilities – be they at the start of their career or experienced leaders. The coaching sessions are relaxed yet professional, giving clients the time to reflect in a safe space and to make lasting changes to their lives.

Availability

The coaching sessions, which are currently virtual via Zoom or Teams, last one hour and can be on either a weekly or monthly basis. However, I am always willing to be flexible depending on the individual’s circumstances. Prior to starting the coaching sessions I offer a free 30-minute chemistry conversation when we can explore whether we would like to work with each other.

Janice Marshall

I had some coaching sessions from Janice at a time when I wasn’t sure where I was going in my career and personal development. I was thinking about my next steps up the “corporate ladder” and some of the challenges I had faced as a black woman getting to where I had got to and on the other hand, I was thinking there must be more to life than this. Janice through her listening, quiet and effective questioning help me get some clarity about my priorities and what I needed to do to achieve them. The sessions were freeing in that I was able to truly contemplate different scenarios for the first time.
